Austin and Hannah got married on a beautiful summer day out at the Red Barn and Berry Farm near Kindred, North Dakota. This venue has so many beautiful spots in the surrounding area - it’s definitely a gem of a venue!

So many little things peppered throughout this wedding made it a unique and heartfelt day.

Hannah’s mom had passed away less than a year before the wedding, so it was important to Hannah to have memories of her mother there. Hannah incorporated pieces of her mom’s wedding dress into her own dress — before her mom’s dress was used in the alterations, I met up with her to photograph her mother’s dress intact. Her mother’s favorite flower, ranunculus, was incorporated in the floral details as well. And during family photos, Hannah had a portrait of her mom with her.

So, there was bittersweet emotion at this wedding, but also a lot of joy. Austin was clearly excited to celebrate with his wife, and Hannah was full of smiles, too!

When sunset came around, we headed out to an old bridge at the suggestion of the venue owner. It ended up being a beautiful, secluded spot — one of my favorites this year!

Hannah presented Austin with a card at their first look. She was REALLY excited to show me the pun on the front: “You octopi my thoughts!”

Hannah was really hoping for some photos with the cows, but as soon as we got close they were spooked away. We settled for this shot!
