Ali warned me that her father was going to cry when he saw her for their father-daughter first look, but I still didn’t expect his eyes to be watering before he even turned around to see her. Actually, I don’t even think he got a good look at her in her wedding dress as he spun around and wrapped her in a huge hug.
Later, at the reception, Ali’s dad choked up saying “I couldn’t be happier” for Ali and Austin.
That’s the resounding feeling surrounding the day at Austin and Ali’s wedding. After the ceremony, as the couple personally released every row of guests, I took note of how warm and genuine these two were with each and every person attending. They’ve definitely cultivated a supportive community!
Many things can go wrong with a January wedding in North Dakota; a snowstorm could hit. It might be -30 degrees outside, stifling hopes for outdoor photos. Guests might choose to stay cozy at home instead of attending.
None of those things were a problem for this wedding day. Despite a winter storm the week before, we were all shoveled out for January 4. And the temperature crept up to the 20s — still cold outside, but outdoor photos were manageable! We took advantage of a lonely road behind The Summit church that showcased the snow and handsome row of pine trees. Austin and Ali’s wedding party were great sports for these photos — and the cold encouraged everyone to listen well so we could get done faster!
Austin and Ali, I’m happy to have met the two of you! Your excitement on your wedding day was contagious. Here’s to a long life spent together!
